17 Browning Street and other Works

A must read, intriguing timeless story as told by an old rooming house in West End, Brisbane.

A great gift for those who have lived in Brisbane, are visiting Brisbane, or who have never heard of Brisbane but who love nostalgia.

In 17 Browning Street, the old rooming house begins its story thus:

Come spend some time with me in West End. Not the glitzy coffee shops in Boundary Street...where intellectuals, non-conformists and radicals discuss the latest government bungles; nor even the Latino dancing schools where the gorgeous thirty-somethings live out their fantasies, strutting their stuff to a new age beat... proving that everything old is new again. That is the new, superimposed West End.

West End has another story. My story. Another  time, another patch of dirt. Mine is a story of full exposure, not just well chosen enticing bits, but the full monty, so to speak. My story is not of the well-heeled, bustling, self conscious, social-drug-using Boundary Street, but just around the corner, a world away in the stumbling, much ignored, addicted, unpredictable, “leave us alone” Browning Street.
